Wentworth, NH- The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England rolled into RumTown Speedway on Saturday for the their first appearance of the year. With some teams having mechanical problems, family obligations, track starting time, and maybe other reasons , we had a shorter field than we had hoped, but it was still a good race for all our teams. The few fans I spoke with also seemed to enjoy the racing too. The race track had some reconfiguration since our last visit in 2020. So the drivers had to adjust to the changes and to run a caution free event to me they seemed to figure it out. We still had side by side racing during the event so it was not a bad day for SCoNE.
In the FK Rod Ends Heat Race it was Jake Williams taking the win. In the O'Reilly Auto Parts Heat Race it was Floyd Billington taking the win. In the 25 lap Venture Wipes Feature Race , after the invert the field was set with Caleb Lamson and Doug McPhail on the front row. Lamson got out front and led the first eight laps while second through fifth were mixing it up trying to find where to pass while learning the track. Finally Clay Dow figured it out and was able to pass Lamson to get out front and continue to take the win. Lamson was second with Jake Williams in third. Followed by McPhail, Floyd Billington, Travis Billington, Wade Prentice, Rick Stone, and Andy Badger.
Since teaming up with car owner Mike Bosco , Clay Dow has been pretty fast at most events in the 31 car. Dow has many wins at the Wentworth racetrack. They can change the name of the speedway , they can change the corners of the speedway , but most likely Clay Dow will still find the winners circle when he races there.
Our next event is 6/19 at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford , VT for our first visit at the facility this season. Hope to see you all there. We will most likely be walking through the stands with our programs for sale and free t-shirts and such for you fans. The louder you are the more we give away.
