West Haven VT- Well on Sunday July 4th , The JRC Transportation Sprint Cars of New England joined up with our friends at the CRSA to bring the race fans a Sprint Car Spectacular 360 / 305 Sprint Car Challenge Race at Devil's Bowl Speedway. Originally scheduled for Saturday night but mother nature changed those plans to race on Sunday. With a car count of 21 sprint cars in the pit area the event was a success and a good day for all.
The three heat races were won by SCoNE 360 cars with the pill draw having them start up front. Heat Race Winners were Will Hull, Cory Sparks, and Chris Donnelly. The 305 competitors ran good in these heat races as well just that starting spots set the pace. The race was run under a CRSA type format with a re-draw of the top 9 in heat race competition and then spots 10 through 15 in a 4 lap Dash event sponsored by Bruno Towing and Mike Emhoff Motorsports. Once those were completed the field was set to race in the A main.
The A main saw Cory Sparks and Chris Donnelly on the front row. Donnelly got the early lead at the green flag and going into turn one. Sparks and Jeff Trombaly not far behind. As the race settled in Donnelly was setting a fast pace out front stretching his lead. At lap ten as Donnelly was starting to go through traffic one car did a 360 spin and kept on going right in front of the leader and as he slowed to avoid Sparks and Trombaly gained some track back to the race leader. Three laps later Trombaly would miss his exit off turn two and went above and over the crown and came back on track with losing one spot to Will Hull. Lap 16 saw the only caution of the race when Floyd Billington went off track in turn two. With the format a single file restart would show Donnelly, Sparks, Hull leading the field to the green. Trombaly and Clay Dow would get by Hull coming out of turn two and begin to chase down the leaders. On lap 22 Sparks was catching Donnelly and by the next lap caught him in the back stretch. Sparks then threw a slide job at Donnelly and got the lead for a split second as Donnelly was leading when the got to the white flag. That left Dow now able to pass Sparks and chase Chris Donnelly to the checkered.
The win on the big track at Devil's Bowl Speedway was Chris Donnelly's first win on the half mile there. Clay Dow finished second followed by Cory Sparks. Jeff Trombaly was the first 305 finishing fourth with Will Hull rounding out the top five.

SCoNE would like to thank all the CRSA teams, officials for a fun event and hope to do something again in the future. Also a big THANK YOU to Mike Bruno and the staff at Devil's Bowl Speedway for a great event and hospitality shown to SCoNE as always when we race at their facility.

The next SCoNE event will be Saturday 7/10/21 at the Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, VT.
